Farewell to Melba

This week, Piedmont says goodbye to a treasured employee who has dedicated many years of service to Piedmont's orthopedic patients. Since 2003, Melba Hamrick has greeted patients at the front desk with a warm smile and genuinely welcoming attitude. She remembers the names of our patients and their stories. She is known for bending over backward to accommodate them in every way that she can. Staff members also know her as an individual who is always willing to stay late, come in early and stop what she is doing to help you. She is retiring on Friday, June 27. Melba Hamrick Piedmont Orthopaedic Complex Along with comfort foods and homemade treats, there were tears and lots of well wishes today at a lunch held in her honor. We will certainly miss her! Over the years, patients have gone out of their way to let us know how wonderful Melba treated them. Here are a just a couple of the things people have said:  “She didn’t just do her job. When I was very sick for 8 months, I had to cancel my appointment over and over until I finally just stopped all appointments. Finally 6 months later I made an appointment and she remembered what was wrong with me from over 6 months and again wanted to know how I was. Now when I come in she checks in on me because I have had to cancel several times due to health. It’s nice to know someone really remembers and cares.” “She always knows my name on the phone, very friendly, very helpful. She always greets everyone.”
